Most of the time The Blazer is water tight. Light rain and even the car wash it doesn't get you wet. Big Ugly...not so much. The Blazer's vent windows even seal up still!:eek1:

However I'm discovering some leaks now. There's surface rust on both of the B-pillars behind the doors below where the top ends at the front. Top seal maybe? It's looking rather porous on the outside. Looks like the top has never been off but there's definitely been enough water in that area over time to make the carpeted pieces on the sides down near the floor get funky/moldy on the back and the surface rust to appear around the seams. Meanwhile as I'm looking at the interior trim pieces I'm thinking they look a bit warped too.
I found water on the floorboards on the passenger side in this area last week after a driving rain.

Then in the back...
When I got it the rubber seal that sticks to the tailgate was just hanging down loose. I stuck it back in place but now I'm discovering water gets past the seal on the edges. Meanwhile the side wall trim is also loking a bit warped in the back as well. I'm afraid this is possibly the doing of the previous owner with the radio fetish.:doah:

So am I just looking at new seals here or are there other potential problems? Other than some surface rust and general annoying clean up work I haven't seen much else that's scary.

I got similar problem, but i guess its the front glass rubber or the frame for the glass, when i wash the truck i cam see the carpet wet

on the bottom portion of the glass frame, at least thats what i think, maybe ruted after time/sun/water

As an advocate of chasing leaks down in my K5 for the past 5 years. I do think I may be DRY now. lol. Here are the places that I have had leaks

1) The passenger side kit panel, you must have a good seal where that vacuum door is, that kit panel must be tight up against the side firewall area otherwise water will leak in. And all the screws need to be as snug as possible.

2) I had water on the pass. side floor boards, I discovered that where the heater hoses go to the heater core, GM molded some lil rain channel on the firewall that leads directly to where the heater core comes thru the firewall, you guessed it, it rains and water runs down this lil ramp right into the heater core hole. I got some rubber flexible tar stuff and wrapped it around the heater hose and built it up enuff to cover the hole, no more leaks

3) Back side window in topper, replaced seal, no leak.

4) Back corners of the truck where topper, tailgate and bedrail meet. Ive replaced every seal on the topper and tailgate, I "THINK" Ive got it, but not sure, the truck has been rained on, but its been under a tree too. lol.

I dont know if this has anything to do with anything, but on the back portion of the topper, from the side window around to the back there is a factory "crack" in the fiberglass, its not a crack per se, but a small channel , dunno what it was for, but It had something sealant in it I guess and all that came out so I just got some clear RTV and no issues. Not sure what this line was in the topper for, Im guessing molding process.

Anyways good luck.

Kick panel maybe?:wink1:
Big Ugly leaks there but it has the vent doors. I don't care as it has the vinyl floor mat, no insulation, and the military heavy non-skid paint on the floor.

No problems with this but I will keep an eye out. I have to replace the heater core soon.

As in the whole seal around the side window? Any tips on doing this? Never done windows/glass work before. I'm thinking this might be part of the issue as I noticed water sitting in the front p-side corner of the top. Only way it could get there was from the window.

Yeah, probably where mine's coming in.:doah:

Where'd you get your rubber products? LMC, OEM, random other places?

all great leak spots.and i know this is not helping AJ. but mine leaked through the hole in the firewall about two inces left of the steering column.it rotted the hell out my floors. the top of the carpet felt dry but the insulation and bottom of the carpet never dried.like the sponge the inso is it spread. the cab i have now does the same thing.but i have no carpet so I don't be a carin. i have a new winsheild and seals but after a hard rain it still had wet floors. one day i layed on the seat durring a good rain and watched the water drip of the choke cable abd other things i had run through the whole. ha HA!! just a suggestion, bro.

We have a boggerless sighting outside of the lounge!

Actually...and I might jinx myself here...no leaks in the forward part of the cab. Glass seems to be sealed up nice too...although it is going to need a new windshield at some point.

The carpet is also out in the front. When the heater core leaked last month it dumped all over the passenger side floorboards and I just capped it off and let it sit for a while...then the insulation started to rot. Holy jeebus STINK! The floors are good other than the passenger side seat cracks. I think I'm going to have the floors Rhino Linered after we fix the cracks and then just throw the carpet back on for looks.

I dunno , you may really like the looks of bedliner inside, I know I did. I had org. planned to put the back panels on after I had mine interior LIne Xd, but it lookd too good and It really gave me some more space, I did lose the speaker mounts, but the space was worth it.

I'm sorta thinking of the carpet as being a bit more of a sound absorber and also a bit more female friendly. Did the Line-X suck up any of the noise for you?

Big Ugly's pretty crude. This is going to be my DD and "let's go for a drive" vehicle. Need to be a bit more comfy. I'm tempted to get a vinyl mat and use that instead of the carpet but I dunno...

Mine is Herculined. Loud as hell, but I dont care. Keeping the damn thing dry inside is a battle I dont feel like messing with any more. Good sounding exhaust is better than quiet or radio anyway.

Well, Big Ugly deafens me. I just want it to be "folks can hear me in person or on the phone without shouting" quiet.

Not to mention Herculiner is just paint with **** in it. I figure Rhino Liner quieted down each of the two pickups I had with it, it'd have to do that to the Blazer too.

I hear ya. I dont want to drive the Blazer every day, but the once or twice a week I do drive it, I grin the whole day. Or well, until I have to drive home with no a/c in 100 degree heat with 80% humidity. Then I just sweat.

As far as sound with LIne X, it is a lil louder but not to the point of having to yell to passenger. Infact I dont even notice it much different than being in any other SUV, etc. Now If I take the rear seat out and just have all that dead space the echo is louder.

Rhino Liner actually absorbs the sound a bit. Due to the rubber and thicker layer of it since it's a bit...softer...rubbery...etc instead of hard like Line-X. I know both of the trucks I did there was a noticeable absence of road noise thanks to the boxes suddenly stopping being echo chambers.
