Okay my question is does anyone else's fuse box in their Blazer look like this?

The box in my '91 Blazer is that style but I don't have straight wires coming out of slot like those on the right side of yours, any wires coming off of mine are plugged in via connectors like those on the left side.
The later ones were a bit cleaner in execution, but same idea.
Plenty of people take shortcuts and jam spade connector wires directly into fuse slots for 12v power. It's shoddy work, but it works. The radio in my 85 got power from a wire with the bare wires folded over the end of a fuse and shoved into the fuse box. One of many electrical hazards i've had to deal with in this box.
