Im doing a full frame up rebuild on my 73. Im getting ready to send the frame to get powdercoated. Was thinking about installing the FUSH kit while I have the frame exposed. My rig is being built as a D/D and for all around utility. Just trying to minimize my problems in the future. thanks

Im wondering if is overkill on a build up that is more a d/d than a hardcore crawler.

I actually went through the exact same thing not too long ago with my '74. If I recall correctly, I went with the set from DIY4x along with the B52's up in front of it. (Similar construction, so they kinda match.) You don't HAVE to use longer than stock springs with the B52...you can use stock length as well. One of my original brackets up there had a rivet head that sheared off, so I used it as an excuse to upgrade. :)

With that being said...I am pretty sure those parts will survive a direct nuclear strike. Really really beefy stuff. I'm pretty sure ORD's is great too...I just don't have personal experience with it. If you haven't addressed it already, consider their steering braces while you are down to the bare frame. That's a great time to make things right.

I have aftermarket springs that fit right into the stock hangers. I have already installed the steering box brace and i am just trying to figure out if there is anything I am missing. I don't mind drilling clean holes in a new powdercoat just don't want to have to grind off old rivets

Okay, school me...FUSH kit?

On the front springs, it replaces the weird size little bushing on the top of the back shackle.

Of course, when I did mine, ORD and Kert hadn't made them yet ... so I had to make my own...

IIRC, with my 52/56 setup, I have the same bushings across the board, i.e. both ends of the springs, and on the front shackles as well. Saves me hassle on spares.

OP...... important factor here.. if your going to do the fush, fit it up NOW, before it goes to powdercoat! you have to enlarge the frame hole... no point in doing it after and leaving an exposed edge, cuz it will ruin your powdercoat at some point...

and I definitely think its a very worthwhile mod, I run ORD's...

I am in the same boat, doing my frame off, I bought the ORD's and am very happy with them.

Just got off the phone, made the purchase don"t think ill have it torn this far down again. thanks for the great info.
