So my 89 350 tbi suburban suddenly died while cruising down the road...all power is gone except the headlights/interior lights (maybe more, this is all I noticed). There was absolutely no issues leading up to this event. I believe it is a fusible link.

Since my burb is stuck in the target parking lot and it has been 115 degrees this week, I would like to know exactly which link may be my culprit (if it is a fusible link at all) so I can get in and out without losing a gallon of sweat probing a bunch of wires. I know of 3 linkson my burb: one off the starter, one on the drivers side firewall (replaced 5 years ago), and one off the alternator.

Which fusible link takes care of all power minus the headlights circuit?

Also, anyone know what size/type to get from the auto parts store? The last one I bought I just cut off a jy truck, but I would rather have a new one.

Thanks

Pretty sure if you connect the output stud on the alternator to the distribution block at the firewall, your stuff will run right again. There is a fusible link in the factory wire that connects the two. I'm not sure where else the vehicle gets it's power.
