IN A JUNKYARD, UNDER A TRUCK*N E Rust Belt
I took a different street around the corner from my house in far N E upstate New York yesterday, and stumbled accross a '84 S'ban with a 7.5 Fisher plow. Truck is a two owner, 158k, very rusty , with a 6.2. Runs well, but lots of blowby when oil cap removed. What's normal? Way back in the late '80's, a local Chevy dealer was installing these set-ups. The fellow also has a '83 Crew Cab 2wd, same set-up, bad heads, newer turbo, even rustier. I've got to get off the 'puter now. More info to follow..... Andrew

The blow by could appear pretty bad if the CDR valve is not operating properly. You really need a compression test to gauge the condition of the piston rings.
