ok, not quite 20 questions, but did some wrench spinning on my truck, and im kinda at my wits end.

1. what are the vacuum lines to the injection pump for? what happens when theyve dry rotted away and are leaking?

2. has anyone replaced the hard 3/8in fuel line on the 6.2 from the lift pump to the fuel filter? is there a trick to doing this without completely disassembling the top half of the engine? I tried to get crafty and make a two piece hard fuel line, one "L" shaped piece going under the manifold, and then a second piece down the front of the engine to the lift pump, both connected with a coupling, but so far it hasnt worked.

3. how in the bloody heck does one bend 3/8in fuel line without kinking it??? i tried WD40, and even grease on the fuel line and the bending tool i have, and still, kinked every time i went past about 70*. do yall heat the line? fill it with sand? i already tried buying the correct line, and was informed it is discontinued, gotta make my own.

4. even sliced my hand open with the razor blade trying to get the old fuel pump gasket off..... just been one of those days today.

at this point im just trying to get the fuel pump mounted, and then run soft fuel line up to the filter so i can at least start the truck and move it. If i gotta tear apart the top half of the engine, i need to get it up into the driveway and out of the street.

all this started with me just trying to swap a darn lift pump.......

ttt - honestly i can probably sort out the fuel line crap myself... but i am curious about the vacuum line from the vacuum pump to the injection pump. IE is it some sort of advance? like on a distributor?

logical, but not practical in this case, im about as large as i dare to go at a 1" radius. much larger than that would cause routing problems under the intake manifold.

in my defence ive never bent tubing before, and was trying to do it with a hand held bender and ive got a broken hand..... so its probably easier most of the time than what im dealing with right now.

I may attempt heating the tube to make it work
