Ok so I messed up and got a bunch of overspray on my nice clean garage floor. It doesn't seem to be coming up so I'm thinking of rolling out some sort of floor coating. The concrete is already sealed, so what are some long term coating solutions?

you'll get what you pay for.... pretty happy with the rustoleum stuff I've been using.. bit more economical than big dollar floor systems.. but absolutely get a catalyzed product if you can...

Like ryoken said, you get what you pay for. I did my 1000 sq ft detached garage with Quikrete epoxy floor coatings in 2006. I think at the time it cost $400 for the material where the good stuff, like U-Coat-It would have been over $1000. Looking back, I wish I would have just ponied up the funds and got the good stuff the first time. The Quikrete looked awesome the first few months but quickly went downhill. For the first few months it was slicker than hell to walk on too when it was wet. Oddly Superswamper tires leave permanent marks in the Quikrete floor coating. Not sure what it is about the tire composition of Superswampers that stains Quikrete so badly.

Quikrete right after applying it.

7 years later. The floor was actually just hosed out before I popped this spring pack out. The floor is just this discolored and stained. The only thing it is not doing is peeling. I figured it would peel but it never has except in two spots where it got burnt welding.

This photo is from 2008 but the only one I can find where you can see how the Superswampers leave permanent marks on the flooring :dunno:

I think the epoxy floor coatings you can buy at Homo Depot and Lowe’s is alright for a garage used to park cars but for a shop used to actually work, UCoatit would be the best way to go. Either way, even the cheap stuff like Quikrete is still better than bare or even sealed concrete.

I can vouch for the UcoatIt stuff. I've had it on my garage floor for nearly 5 years and the only two things that ever messed it up was dropping an engine block on it (chipped the concrete) and accidentally hitting it with a grinder (ooops).

I should warn you though, I have tons of overspray from paint on mine and its a b**ch to get off if you let it dry.

If I threw down some muratic acid would that take up the paint? I know accetone will take it up but I'm not sure if it'll ruin the concrete.

Muratic acid may etch the concrete, but probably not do much if its fully cured. In fact you can use muratic acid to remove the haze if you let cement based grout dry on ceramic tile. Acetone will not hurt concrete. We use it at work every day and plenty of it ends up on the hanger floor.

Glenn didn't you just buy a condo? Or are you keeping this place too?

I did. I'm moving out of the parents place. They've been too nice in letting me restore my truck in the brand new garage and I go and f-up the floor :doah: I gotta fix the floor and finish my truck before I can move out.

Ohhhhhh.

I've never noticed any other vehicles in pics you post so I figured it was your place.
