Make me feel better and post a story or picture of your best garage @##$ up.

Here's mine. Took the passenger side door off last night. Painted the rocker panel and installed new door hinges. I Let the paint dry and went to put the door back on for final adjustment and......

I dropped the door on the lower front corner. Pretty sure the whole neighborhood heard the F bomb that followed.

I was using three straps that support the door from the rafters. Slowly lifting it up to put the hinge bolts in and all the sudden in slow motion it fell.

Left the front snap ring off my 205 and destroyed the rear bearing and cover

I did tweak the K5 doing the custom floor cuz i didn't brace well enough before cutting it out... doors wouldn't close right after.... 2 days of cursing and mofo-ing with the portapower and blocks of wood got it back in line thankfully..

My f@$% up.... being too lazy to find time to go out to the shop and work on my Blazer.

Suck. Figure out why?
Not exactly sure yet. I blew an engine a few weeks back, DEEP powder day, 36" fresh snow depth. PTO side crank bearing exploded, which sucked because it had a top end only 400 miles prior. Bearing took out crank, cylinder and piston. So I was needing to order a cylinder (monoblock) another top end and a crank. For only about $500 more I could just order a rebuilt engine and send in my core. Came with a year warranty and I wouldn't have to assemble the engine so it seemed like it would save time and be a good choice. Engine showed up on a monday and was back in a fed ex truck by thursday. Installed the engine and the sled started 3rd pull. Ran for about 2 seconds. Would not fire again. Checked compression and only 75psi each side. (Should be 120) Pulled the exhaust and looked into the cylinders to see at least 3, 1/4" wide scores in each cylinder. Not sure if wrong parts ended up in there or not enough assembly lube or something else. Cant open the motor or it voids the warranty. So now I am waiting for the engine shop to tear it down and deal with the issue. So much for faster and better, next time I will assemble the engine myself. I cant come up with any reason instant death would be my fault but I figure they will try and blame me for something.

I would fight anything they throw at you until the cows come home. Don't forget you can get your credit card company involved too, they have good lawyers generally. If you used a good enough card, it will possibly have a warranty of its own.

I couldn't hear a header collector leak, didn't buy a stethoscope to listen.
Spent close to $2K pulling the modified TBI and installing a PF4 system, then a friend heard the leak. I then modified $500 headers, after I bought the stethoscope and found the leaks.

You had better hurry up. It will be 100* and 100% humidity in a few weeks.

Thats no joke, it was 80* today. We’ll probably get one more week long cold front and then summer will set in.

Bought a 66Chevelle, because it had a 427/425 engine in it.
sat on it for years. Built it for my 64Vette to go racing. The machine shop I took it to, did a great job on the block work. Had a head guy race prep the heads, put it all together and dropped it in the car. Ran through 5 gallons of race gas in about 15 minutes, but the concern was the valve covers were blowing steam out of the breathers. In the end, the block was cracked alongside the camshaft at the top of 3 cylinders. Block was junk...a sad day, I guess I should have requested a pressure check before dumping hundreds into a cracked block...

This is a whole thread of trainwrecks...

Once a valve spring compressor slipped and launched the retainer SOMEWHERE. Searched the garage for hours, but haven't found it to this day. Had to wait a couple of days to get the engine back in and now I have a lovely set of 11 on the shelf.

Somehow I ran a harmonic balancer on about 20 degrees off from the keyway. Since that sets the timing, the headers were glowing and it took a while to figure out the retarded thing I'd done (pun intended).
