Gas Gage won't register completely full, what can I do to correct the problem?

Check the sending unit, It might be worn on the variable resister that sends the signal to the guage.

You can also check the nuts that hold the gauge to the circuit tape behind the dash. If they become a little lose, can make the gauge read funny.

If you've ever let it get really low, does it read the same amount under "E" that it does under "F"? (don't forget, GM typically put some "reserve" into the gauge reading)

If someones monkeyed with the gauge, or the gauge itself is just "off" it can do that too.

Mine never goes quite to "F", but I've never let it get so far down to tell where "E" really is.

The baffle could be loose inside your tank causing the float to not work properly. I had this problem.

The guage in my 87' reads full until there is 5 gallons left, so I have to watch it and top off the tank all the time.

That is exactaly what mine did until I put a new sender in it and fixed the baffle.....I would say that the baffle is causing your problem.

I put in a new sender and its still not reading over half!
