Gas Mileage question

Thats funny you say that because mine was a diesel before i converted it to gas, and the only reason i did convert was because the diesel was blown up.

You shoulda fixed the diesel if you were looking for best fuel mileage--it wont be a dragster,but you could get double the fuel mileage from a diesel VS a gas motor..I get between 15-22 mpg in my 82 K20 with the 6.2--even with my 500 lb.plow on it!...but sometimes a gas motor is more desireable,like when its 5 below,and you've no place to plug in the block heater,or you dont like the noise and smell of a diesel..I got used to it fast when I saw how far it will go on a gallon....

Asuming you have correctd the odometer error for the tires size...10 mpg with 33's and a TH350 is about right. OD might get you to 12. My Fuel injected 454 Sub with TH400 gets 10.5 normal mixed. All hwy I might get 11.5.

I know the odometer is off, by about 5-7 mph or thats what it feels like, but i have not fixed that.

5-7 mph slow, correct? have you took this into consideration when calculating fuel economy?

You have the same carb as mine and I think it does a pretty good job with fuel. THose Edel. Q-jets are darned good carbs. I used to get somewhere around 12mpg back when I did a lot of freeway driving with my 406, a th700R4, 4.10's and 35x16 boggers. In town it was half that....

The scary part is that my wife's 2003 Hemi powered Dodge Ram only gets 9-10 city 14.5 on the highway, so I don't feel too bad about getting 11 with my 400 and 35" swampers. I guess the engineers haven't learned much in 30 years.
