Gas pedal fix

Well they played around with it and couldn't figure out anything that was wrong so we ordered up another cable and that made a huge difference! So the old cable must have been worn out. It is still a bit sticky at the start of acceleration but very mild! I won't be breaking anything anymore with this setup. Hopefully it stays the same when it gets cold

Did you replace the throttle cable or TV? Having the same issues here on my '88.

Cable lube trick. Place funnel over end of cable. Just big enough to clear cable end rap tape around funnel and cable guide, poor oil in funnel, let oil drain into cable.

Probably cable related, but that's been covered, so.....

I have seen in some cars where the carbon buildup in the throttle body and butterfly shafts was so bad is was causing sticky pedals. Hardest to open right off idle. Some quick work with a bottle brush (small) and some carb cleaner while hand-working the throttle back and forth will fix this.

In more extreme cases, I have seen the tiny bushings that the butterfly shaft rides in worn out. This can cause all kinds of funky problems like a high idle and very sticky/erratic throttle. I would clean out the throttle bores (above) and look for signs of the butterflies hitting the bores if you suspect this. If so, I don't know if the bushings are replaceable. May mean a new TBI.
