Gas Prices

I talked to one of Senator McCains interns a couple of years ago about the cafe' standards. They were adament that if they continued raising the standards that sooner or later the auto makers that bought up all of the super fuel saving patents would have to start using them. But do you believe they exist? :screwy:. Sounds like an excuse to move their agenda along. However; American knowhow and enginuity never ceases to amaze. I am looking forward to the solutions of the future as long as the free market is involved. :D :D

I knew of a guy that had one of his patents bought up by one of the big companies. He had no choice. The technology is definitely out there.

In 1975 I saw a news piece on TV about an engine that ran on AIR, not hydrogen, but air. Invented at UCLA. It was truly amazing. Dropped out of sight right afterwards. Never heard another word about it.

I personally knew a guy that tweaked a fuel system (IIRC) to produce 78 MPG in a 1970's Camaro. Saw it with my own eyes in the 80's. Was sworn to secrecy. He's dead now, don't know what happened to his tweaked carb/system.

It cost me $125 to fill the tanks on my pick up truck today. It only cost me $45 to fill the tanks on my truck a few years ago. I wonder how President Bush thinks Americans are going to survive spending $400 to $600 a month on gas to get to work. At the rate fuel prices are going, only the rich will be able to afford the luxery of driving. For the middle class, driving will only be a memory.

With the current price of gasoline these days, the cost of fullsize four wheelin just gotten way too expensive for me. It cost me an average of $100 bucks in gas for one afternoon of wheelin. I don't know how long these high gas prices will stay up there but I think I am going to pickup cycling as my second hobbie:)
