Has anyone tried any of the "fuel saving" devices? I was looking into the Super Fuelmax, Tornado, and SpiralMax. They all claim gains of up to 28% better gas mileage and up 35 extra HP. They range from $50-$100. It would be nice to take a few min. and give my blazer better gas mileage and performance. It just seems to good to be true. I would like to believe the websites, but I would feel much better about buying one if I heard it from one of you guys. Thanks for your input.

if ya really wanna save on gas money, buy a 1981 accord or escort with a beat to hell body for $100 or something, and use it to commute and use ur K5 for weekend fun. best, cheapest way I can think of to really save money on gas...

The best way to improve your gas mileage is to drive slower. Last year I did a little experiment on a long highway trip- I drove at 50-55 MPH instead of the usual 65-70 MPH and I increased my fuel mileage by almost 20%!!!!!

i bet that helps tire wear too.. 20%? thats almost enough motivation to get my arse outta bed a few minutes earlier /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif i drive an hour both ways to school, so i might just try that. might not get any "fast driving awards" either... /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

agreed... when driving around town, accelerate as slowly as you can get away with at stop lights/signs etc. Hammerin down the skinny pedal is like flushin gas down the toilet.

having ur tires at the optimum pressure and a good tuneup would help also...

I work in the automotive industry and we refer to these products as "snake oil"....basically a scam. Most of these companies have never even performed a certified fuel economy test. An "real" test costs big money, require expensive instrumentation, a controlled environment, and take weeks to perform.

You could swap your radiator fan to electric, if you use junkyard parts you might get it done for $50-$100, you will get some increase in HP and mileage -- not much though.
