Looking at a 1990 V1500, found this

If I go with this truck, I’d probably look at keeping the access, but cleaning up the opening and mounting a proper insert with a flange to bolt down. I’ve seen build threads where this is done and it looks good. Can anyone point me to one

Here's some measurements for a K5 if it helps:

i did this, looking for a door now to cover the hole better than screws

I’m opting no hinge, so I can have the panel completely out of the way of needed, and one less part. But mine is also exposed

Yeah, I was thinking same thing, no hinge, maybe tac in a few threaded inserts

Probably just bolt mine together and weld the nut on the back

obviously I have to fill my tank from that trap door in my pic, however if you don't, then I would suggest using the nutserts. I used them to bolt my floor down, as I wanted it removable incase I ever needed to take the tank out, or service something from the top.

Unfortunately, a panel opening for TBI in-tank fuel pump access is not an option for a pick-up truck because the fuel pump is located right between the cab and the bed.

I just cut a square hole and cut a bigger one out of donor truck at junk yard and used sheet metal screws
