OK guys anyone every install a new gas tank from LMC? It says you have to move the neck to the new tank. Sounds easy enough! But dang you pay 200 bucks! I wonder what that really means? Just the turn of a screw driver? Or cutting? Just thought someone out there has already done this and I wanted to see how bad it was going to be. Or if anyone knows where else to get a direct replacement?:D Also: still having trouble at mid throttle. Runs good and will sit and rev up all day. Runs good down the road but after a hard full throttle it starts to flutter a bit and then pick back up when a mid throttle is applied. Fuel filter is new Dizzy is new and the carb is new its a 1406. I'm pulling around 19 vacuum at idle. No spark knock.. Timming seems to be good!!!:confused: It's a 350 crate...

Thanks

for your mid throttle issue,

get a calibration kit for the Edelbrock carb and play with the rods, and jets if needed...follow Edelbrock's instructions and you can get it tuned in pretty good...

i have the 1405 carb, air gap intake, and performer plus cam, and headers; i had to go with larger jets in mine to tune it in...

i also re-curved my distributor with different springs and used an adjustable vacuum advance can...i was getting too much vacuum advance with the stock can...i limited mine to 8 degrees on the vacuum advance...stock can be as much as 20...that's too much

i get really good performance and 16mpg now...

For some reason the LMC tank comes with a short neck on it that completely gets in the way of the body mount. The factory neck curves around it. If you have a Body Lift you can route some hose around it.

And thanks for the help! Do yall think an edelbrock thunder 1826 would work ok on a 350? I have found a new one at a great price. Its an off road 650.

When you pull the old tank you will see how it come off. You can either switch or cut the old tube and weld it to the new one to make something that works.

If this truck is not your DD then i would just pull the tank and sit them both together and you will be able to see how they are different.

I've done the swap and it's not that bad. You need to unsolder the old filler neck off the tank and then have a radiator shop solder it onto the new tank.

Make sure you fill the old tank FULL of water before you get a propane torch near it!

Or install a body lift and use some extra long fuel hose.
