Gas Tank Question

What is conisidered to be the main tank and the aux tank on a 73-87 K10?

Also how come I have yet to find any new or reproduction stepside driverside fenders that have a gas filler neck in them?

I don't think there is any aux, they are identical and the switch goes left or right.

I see in LMC and other parts catalogs talk about an aux tank.

Let me put it this way what side tank came standard with only 1 tank?

Auxiliary tanks came in different positions.
on older 67-72 trucks they had the tank behind the seat and auxiliary tanks went in the later model positions (saddle tanks).
some tanks were installed in 73-86 trucks in place of the spare tire in between the frame rails.
Then again LMC could be talking about the second tank as an auxiliary but nothing is different between the two to make one primary, not the switch, nor size nor location.
I think the truck that I had with one tank had it on the driver side, but for the tanks them selves, they are interchangeable, side to side so it's the same part no if that is what you are trying to do.

I was mostly currious, and I just had to order a new filler neck hose so I just wanted to double check I ordered the right part.

You might be surprized but all the parts are interchangeable even the filler neck and hoses.
