1991 K5 Blazer, dropped tank to change pump. Tank and skid plate cannot be separated. Tank edges look to be factory bent at angles preventing separating the two. Any ideas on reinstalling? Straps run between the two.

Yeah, I'd like to see pics. A whole bunch of us have factory skid plates and factory/repop tanks, and they are in no way stuck together.

I can imagine maybe rust might allow the tank to "bond" to the skid towards the middle in some cases, but that's it.

I have a 91, everything on mine came apart separately and easily.

OP has been pm'ing me about this problem. I can only think he may have an aftermarket or custom built skid...and yes pics would be so helpful!

They're not rusted, tank is loose within the skid plate.

Here's a (crappy) pic from mine, it shows the 3 rear skid plate mounting points and then the 2 silver studs from the tank straps. There's about a 1" gap between the skid and tank. The skid can be unbolted and removed without doing anything to the tank, once removed the tank can be removed by removing the nuts from the straps.

Sounds like a custom skid plate the has retainers to hold the tank to it:confused::confused:
