I just pulled a 78 small block out of a pickup to replace a blown motor in an 82 blazer. The motor is DRY, no leaks and ran well, Except for a tunep. Looks like 15k on the new motor over 4 years, the PO was pretty detailed with records, just rotted away on him.
What are some opinions on changing gaskets and seals that arent leaking? I want to do it while it on the stand but if it aint broke??
Money is tight now Just like for everyone it seems but i would hate to do this swap and have a leak develop. What seems to leak more in your experience, high milage or just age?

Since its out at the least, ME, I would change the oil pan gasket to a one-piece gasket, change the valve cover, timing cover and the water pump and t-stat gaskets and throw it in the new rig.
