So I snapped my adapter between the two :doah: so now that they both out I might as well as redo all the gaskets seeing that is leaked like a dirty sponge. Thus the questions:

1) what do you guys use for gaskets between the adapter on tranny/t-case and where did you get it at. Will silicone gasket maker work?

2) The best way to put the beast back in . Is there a trick to get the coupler spines to match up to the t-case and the tranny?

3) Is there supposed to be some kind of brace that bolts on to the 205? Mine doesn't have one, but there is bolt holes on it.

Thanks

There are gaskets that go in between adapter and tranny, and the tcase. Use gaskets. You may have to buy the whole tranny or tcase gasket kit to get them. I think when I did mine I ordered them from national drivetrain online. A google should find you a place. If you are near a good tranny shop try them also.

I installed my 465 and 205 myself using a harbor freight tranny jack and a lot of wood blocks. Did them seperately. If you are replacing the adapter then you should only be installing the tcase which was a lot easier for me than the 465. Just think safety and do not squash yourself. Once you have the case and splines lined up right, it will go in.

I dont have any braces on my 205 either. My donor truck did not have any...there are 2 large bolt holes on the pas. side for one. Maybee if I search enough here or find another truck at the junk yard I will figure out what to put there. I have seen isolator kits from nwfab. That adapter thing always makes me think twice when wheelen hard.

Ya I have those two large bolt holes, from what I have found around here on CK5 and local yards there isn't one, but you never know. Just makes me nervous having a 100+ lbs hanging out there:doah:

Thanks for the advice though.

The rear out put or adapter seal does not come in the kit it is sold separately and hard to find. do a search napa carries it i just went through all this.

More then likely will end up at napa, mainly b/c they are not freaking idiots over there, they know how to use a book to cross reference numbers :doah:. It's a hard concept for Kargen and autozone kids :haha:, but that is a whole nother story for a different day.

Thanks for the input though.
