Regarding my 1984 K-5 4x4, 4 spd stick, stock 5.0L V8 minus all emission controls (including EGR), a Holley 650 w/vac secondary (model 4011).

The first start in the morning often results in gasoline squirting-flowing-shooting out of the vent passage directly in front of the secondary float. Then, mysteriously, after the engine is warm and after I shut down for about 5 minutes it stops. It doesn't happen again until the next morning.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Hey there
It sounds like there is debris in the bowl that is getting stuck under the needle and seat.
Kinda odd though that it does it on startups only.
I don't run Holly carbs, but I know that a sticky needle and seat on a Q-jet will spill gas out all over the place.
See ya

my truck's not dirty, it's earth tone paint
