Okay, so.. its not a beast of a powerhouse... but it does do real good for my 43 year old arse (Read:Im not a juvenile anymore and dont need 383 stroker power)

Not only does it have sufficient power for a daily driver, but sounds sweeeet as hell and gets "great" (Read: for a friggin tank!) MPG.

How much MPG I get, Im not sure.. but I roughly estimate Im getting "as good" as I did with my '93 Jeep XJ Cherokee 4.0L HO, around 15mpg, or better.

This is, as I said, my daily driver... Like driving a friggin' tank yo... :-) No carpet, no sound or heat insulator, no panels and no headliner... Its stipped out like a 1009. Anyway, I just cant think of how expensive having this truck as a 350 gasser would be, theres no way I could afford to drive it!!!

I just wanted to boast about my Detroit Diesel. With all its 'limitations', I still love it. :woot:

I consistently got 15, 16 from my tbi'd gasser...

I pull down 24+ day in and day out with my C1500 pick-em-up with the 6.2. 70/30 freeway/city mix.

I love my 6.2. only driven it maybe 500miles since i bought it in Jan. but it is everything i want out of a truck. Loud. Large. and Diesel

15 MPG is pretty bad for a 6.2. You may have some bad injectors.
I get 20 average MPG no problem from my K1500 EX cab 6.5 TD

I still need to check my gearing, but if it is 308's like I anticipate, I think that gearing is making the engine work harder to move the brick down the road than it should, would would (I reckon) give reduced fuel economy.

My gas gauge is kaput, it reads all over the place some times, so its hard to "guesstimate" economy. I really need to check my mileage on a fillup, and again on the next to calculate "actual" economy.

Cheers,
Andrew

that's the "only" way to calculate mileage. and to concure 15 mpg is horrible for a 6.2. not a little bad......but friggin terrible.

Heh, mine averages around 14mpg.

Yes, I know it's bad and yes, I'm working on it.

Yeah mine was getting 20mpg with a turbo, you all know the turbo makes more power but it also uses more fuel, and i still got 20mpg.

not exactly. the turbo utilizes the fuel injected more efficiently. it increases the engines thermal efficiency. which is a good thing.

Yes but every turboed 6.2 I have seen had the fuel turned up, because now with the turbo you can burn it more efficiently, and thus the less MPG.
Kinda like the BMW economy, they had more power for the same fuel, instead of the same power for less fuel.

that is proving the exact point.

you take a lock stock N/A diesel, bolt a turbo to it, do not touch anything else it will make more power. right.

if you want the same power level as before, pull the fuel back, you will make the same HP as a natural using a turbo using less fuel.

I get about 15 MPH as well, but 90% of my driving is done in rush hour traffic or in downtown hell, aka San Francisco. When I make trips back home to SD, I will get 18-19 while doing 70-75.

I know I'm in need of injectors, just waiting a bit longer to do the IP as well. I'm anticipating increasing that a bit once I go up to 33"s

EDIT:

Oh and yes, I love using mine as a DD, especially since every other car out here is a Prius, and they run away scared :) :)
