This may be a dumb question, but did GM offer a gauge cluster w/ a tach? I have seen clusters for the 68-72 with a tach, but I can't say that I have seen one that would fit in my 90 K5.

Thanks for the info......now that I know that, I'm going keep looking around for my truck. I have looked through a couple of the salvage yards in my area and have not had any luck. The guy at the counter couldn't even tell me if they were offered with a tach :screwy:

I want to say that they were in the commercial body GM's, like dumptrucks & bobtails etc. I don't know for sure about regular light duty stuff, although it may have been an option. Anyway, keep an eye out for the comm. stuff when your looking. :thumb:

So far '81 is the last year they've been confirmed in the C/K bodies up to '87, R/V to '91.

Anything prior to '90 won't be a bolt in to your truck, your speedometer is electric. Anything is possible, will just take more work.

The C60's and what not (as mentioned, dump trucks and so on) did get tach clusters, but IIRC all are the "old style" font/colors, so they don't match up with the '80+ gauges.

I had a feeling the electric speedo might be a snag. I know in the past, I have come across the older style (font) clusters. I may just go see if the parts counter at my local dealership can help.

Thanks for the info guys, I really do appreciate it.

I still can't believe they offered a tach cluster all the way back in the early 70's and didn't in the late 80's and early 90's! :dunno:

Manufacturers (at least GM) were really getting away from full featured clusters as much as possible. Idiot lights got more and more popular, then they reversed that and seem to have gone back to good gauges.

I can tell you for a fact that there is no tach in the '85-86 GM parts manual.
