Gauge Cluster

I want to swap my gauge cluster. Mine is in Kilometer and I want to swap for mph. I searched at ebay and the year goes up to 87' my truck is an 88' but the cluster looks like it's for my truck? I'm looking for help/what's right for my truck?

U can use the cluster from a 87-91 Blazer or burb. The blazer and burbs ran the same body style until 91. The trucks changed over in 87 so any p/u truck cluster from (i think) 80 to 86 will work and blzr/burb 80 to 91. You might be able to find just a speedo rather than replacing the whole thing. They are out there on ebay. found this one item#200327535096 on ebay. good luck

Be careful though because in 1990 or 1991, GM went from a speedometer cable to a Vehicle Speed Sensor and if I remember right, it's be a hassle to interchange.

So to be safe, go with an 81-89 speedometer and you'll be good to go.

I'm not completely sure, but I think they need to be from a truck with a computer. Some early 80's trucks still didn't have one. '89 is the last year for cable driven, and the first year for 6 digit odo.

only the 1500 and 2500s were switched to a different body style in 88 3500s were the same as blazers and suburbans till 91

Roughly '83+ should work.

VSS is used for cruise control and the computer, and was introduced I believe in 1983. So 1983-1989 should work, as long as the cluster looks the same. No way you can confuse it with the '88+ C/K clusters.

Only difference from '81-89 is that early on some speedometers weren't setup quite right for a VSS retrofit, but later on it appears all were. Pretty unlikely the speedometer ISN'T setup for VSS if it's '83 or later. '90-91 is electronic speedometer and won't work without additional hassle/cost.
