gauge light wiring

to hook into the lights for new gauges, i want to use one of the existing lights to tap into. which one is power and which one ground?

colrs there are brown and white

I tapped into the brown wire when I hooked up my tach lite.

look in the fuse box...

There is a spare "tap" in the fuse box labelled "ins lmps"(instrument lamps) that is hot only when the headlight switch is in the "on" position--hook your wires up to that spade in the fuse box,and you wont have to touch any other factory wires..73-87 GM trucks anyway...

Yup , and the best part is the tach will dim when you turn the headlight knob with the rest of the gauge lights
