I've got one of the fleet mechanics at work who's going to rewire my whole truck (the wiring is a mess from the PO, and I don't get along w/ electricity), and I'd like to replace my gauges, but add a tach where the fuel gauge is. How hard to do, and who's got the best gauges now. I used to use autometer when we built mustangs. Its great to be turning wrenchs again lol....Dave
 
Autometer still makes good stuff, and you should have no problem with them. They also do sell a 5" diesel tach (p/n 6806) - it requires attaching a magnet to your flywheel/flexplate and a hall sensor on the block or bellhousing. It will, of course, require some custom dash fitting, and it ain't real cheap (cheapest I saw was about $250).
