have stock 3.73's right now so told need thick gears in 4.88

Always figured anything not Richmond or Dana was a crap shoot. My FF had a precision gear, not sure they make those.
90% of gear life is in the set up. Are you setting it up?

yes I will be setting in up done a few in past but been some time. mostly 10/12 bolts never a 14 bolt F/F
