I am looking to put in 4.10 gears front and rear and i was wondering if I need anything else besides the ring and pinion, I have seen these gear install kits and such things like that, do I really need one? Also where is a good place to get gears cheap that are of good quality?
Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

The install kits do have things you will need in them seals, pinon nut ,marking compound ,shims and such.

If you are wanting to save some coin I wounld check the local boneyards for a 3/4 ton with 4.10 in it.
The yard I work in sells them for 75 to a 100 dollars a piece. Just picked up a d60 my self for 50 after my discount.

yeah you are right I may as well not waste the money for gears when I am going to be swaping in the 3/4 ton.
Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I have only done one gear swap in a Mustang 8.8"
I wished I had bought the shim kit when I did it.
It took me a long time and lots of reading to get it right
I used a fact. service man. for the set up info.
This can be a major PIA to do if you are not mech. inclined
