Did a search and didnt find exactly what I am looking for. I am about to have a gear swap done and want to know which manufacturer offers the best bang for the buck?

There are a few to stay away from as far as quality goes. You cant go wrong with: Richmond, Precision, Yukon, Superior...

Wow... nice and clean engine! As far as the gears go... look for missing teeth, grooves, and when you drain the oil... look for foreign material, if the oil's pretty nice, and you can turn the gears over no problem... then you should be good. But look for your standard chips and cracks!

yeah, avoid genuine gear, they suck. Yukon, precision, richmond... they are all purdy good. Superiors are bling if you wanna spend the extra $.

I personally would stay away from Yukon's. They are specific to Randy's Ring & Pinion. They are cheaper than alot, but you never know what you are gonna get. He contracts all over & they may be Canadian steel, Mexican, US, etc. Very inconsistant.

Just my opinion - which was actually asked for

I am running Yukon gears front and rear. They have held up so far and they were easy to set up. They are a good price also :xmas:

I've heard that Yukon and Precision are made by the same company. But Precisions are better quality, hence they are more $$$..... I called Precision(tech# on their website) not long ago to ask a question about my Precision D60 gears and the number went to Reider Racing in MI.... So I think Randy's is either just a Yukon Dist for Reider or they are in cahoots....

NTX78K5 - sorry cant help ya there... I have some 4.10's for a 14FF.... When looking at used gears.. Check the tooth condition and make sure it has a good wear pattern.... :thumb: You're probably just better off buying new!

I remember awhile back when this was the common view over on pirate... but since then it seems that people have for the most part been happy with Yukons. There is definitely negative opinons on genuine gears... but not many people post up "i blew up my yukon gears!!!" over there... and those throttle jockets can break ANYTHING.
