I feel like this is a newb question, but after searching for 15min I'm ready to just post up the question.

I'm installing a DIY4x cover and need to know how much gear oil will be needed because I'm using some Amsoil synthetic stuff. I already have 3qts, but I'm guessing I may need more.

Any help would be appreciated. :D

Pour in oil till it starts to dribble out the fill hole. Then your good. I think it's about 3 quarts tho

Mine took three - but not to sound like a jerk, just fill until it comes out the fill hole.

Yeah I know how to figure out if it's full. I'm just not going to buy anymore gear oil than I need at $10 a quart. I'm hoping the 3qts I have already sitting on the shelf purchased a year ago is enough. I can't just go down to Checkers and pick-up a quart of Amsoil SevereGear.

Thanks for the answers, sounds like I might have just enough.

Mine took 5 qts before I could touch the level with my pinky and I probably could have added a little more. Mine is tilted up a pretty good bit though. :doah:
