Mine took about 2 quarts when I filled it Friday, but that's a rough estimate, as I was half filling 1 quart bottles from an open 1 gallon container. 
My pinion is also sitting up high enough that I'm going to re-check fluid level and see if any went into the axle tubes though.

I think it calls for 2 quarts- Might be more than 2, but less than 3. My mind tells me 2.5 quarts...
ALL-DATA says 2.6 quarts, but I serviced mine yesterday and it took a whole gallon. I bought a gallon jug of 80w90 and a pump to go on it, the pump was sucking air when the oil started running out of the hole.

humm i have always heard at least a gallon,
mine with Kidjethro's rockin ass cover now takes 5 quarts
and if you want to be real anal, jack up each tire to make shure oil getts into the hub

Mine takes right at a gallon to fill.
