87 K5 w/ 6 inch lift , 36's , 700R4, 350. Sees medium off- road use. Which gear ratio do you think would be best 4.10 or 4.56 ? Street driving is a factor.

4.88 for 36s/overdrive

[/ QUOTE ]I was kinda thinking that too. But I'm no expert by any means.

ya with OD i'd say go as low as u can...5.13's maybe but I would prolly go 4.88's if it where me /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

That low? The guys at the local shop say even 4.56's were to low for the correct rpm's. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Go HERE and figure it out, then go tell the guys at the local shop they don't know squat.

BTW - Your transmission ratio in OD is .7, and your transfer case ratio in Hi range is 1.

This is what I would pick also, but only 4.10 and 4.56 was offered as choices. If you are re-gearing I would go 4.88, if you have a 4.56 already set up then run it.

ya unless yer running a non OD tranny....U can go way low! they are prolly just shooting ya those gear ratios cuz they either dont know much or didnt realize u have overdrive /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
Im currently running 4.10's w/sm465 and 38's and I really wanna go way lower, like 4.88's or even 5.13's!!
Now with my diesel w/TH350 I'm gonna run 4.10's with 35's cuz I dont have OD and diesels dont like to rev to much!!

I have a TH350 trans and run 4.56 gears. It works out fairly good for a truck that sees some road use (gotta get to the mall /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif). I have 3 sets of tires that I switch between, 35's, 36's, and 38's.
