what gears are you running with what trans/T-case(s) and tire height.

I have a 700/241 with 4.56 gears and 44's. looking into some different gears and would like to know what works for you.

mine is trail only.

thanks for your input.

wow, you are viewing this but not responding. you have a trans and t-case right. you probably have gears in the diffs too. all responses are encouraged.

700r4 slush box w/ super slipping...

np208

10b's w/ 3.08's

38.5" MT Baja Claws

SM465/205, 4.56 gears, 37" tires.

If you are looking for deeper gears you are probably looking at a doubler/atlas or a dana 70 rear end.

1978 Chevy Suburban

350 ci 4 barrel, SM-465, NP205, 10 bolt front w/3.73s,
12 bolt rear w/3.73s, 33x12.50x15 ATs

UPDATE, now has 35x12.50x15 Dunlop Radial Mud Rovers

I gots me a 700R4 and 208 with 4.10s and 37s. The gear is too high 3rd revs too high and OD is too low of an RPM. I will be going with 5.13s and a doubler or 3 speed stak behind a NV4500.

465 tranny with a 203 range box +WMS 3.198 gear set in front of a 205 case going to 5.86's in the chunks turning 36" tall SX's .

700r4/np241/4.10 gears with 33s. It's ok for the way it is now.
I'm going for 700r4/203,205 doubler/5.13s with 37s

If the truck is truly "trail only" there is no reason not to go as deep as possible..... which is 5.13s if you're running a 14BFF.....7.17 (or something like that) if you're willing to swap in a Dana rear end.

I'm assuming you already have a D60 front since you are running 44's.

350/700/203/205/4.10 36-12.5-15 i want 5.13/5.38's and 39.5's

doublers are expensive. What would I gain from a 70 rear end?

This truck has been in overdrive only a handful of times in the last 7 years. not once this year, and only once last year when I was messing around on the road in front of Paragon. Pretty much keep the lever set to 4lo all the time.

would 5.38's be too much? right now I have a 38:1 crawl ratio not counting converter slip. 5.38's would put it at 45:1. not much but a step in the right direction.

If I did a doubler I would like a klune-V since you can mount anything behind it. and its lighter then a 203. my truck weighs enough already. so if I did a 205 behind that it would still be short. with 4.56 gears I would be at 75:1. same setup with 5.38's would be 89:1. not too shabby.

I'm thinking out loud here.

yes its a 60/14 bolt combo. geuss 5.13 is the way to go since I don't feel like swapping axles again.
