the thing i liked the most about the unimog axles was the gear reduction all the way out at the hub...i have seen those kind of hubs for a corp. 14 bolt in some magazine that gives you 4" of lift but i dont know where or what magazine it was in. if anyone has info on that that would be greatly appreciated. i have some 1 tons coming soon from oregon or somewhere out there. but i want the massive diff clearence like the mogs. so if anyone has seen those gear reduction hubs, drop a message here.

TKOJeeps was going to make portal boxes for 60's, but I don't think that there have been any updates recently.

i have seen people use hummer portals on the ends all axles not specific 14b.

i wana say dyna gear or dyna trac not a 100%.

i just looked in four wheeler and petersons and saw nothing.

i wonder why there arent more portal boxes for the 1 ton axles...everyone seems to like the mog axles for that reason...you could have a sick gear ratio and much better clearance under the diffs. i am going to search around the internet some more for a kit or something, i think a kit like that would be awesome!

quote "These portals showed up in the May 2005 edition of Four Wheeler mag. Page 22 shows the sales pitch."

this came from the pirate forum...but there are no production pieces yet...

Ferdinand Porche invention??

Hmmm... Last time I saw a reduction gear box at the end of an axle was many years ago, on my 1963 VW Bus!...I had one drop a "ball" from one of the wheel bearings into the gear case..I came to a screetching halt from 25mph when one lodged between the gears!...didn't hurt a thing though,I just replaced the bearing and got all the shrapnel out,and it was fine again!..

.I took that "Transporter" a lot of places off road that jeeps hard a hard time going to!..I know the VW dune buggy crowd likes the "Bus" transaxle for its lower gear ratio, and the added clearance due to the offset reduction boxes...
