Gear selection problem, lokar shift rod.

I used the lokar shift rod and it selects my gears super easy on my 4l80, like I barely move my colum shifter and im in reverse and my reverse lights are on in drive, anyone else have this issue. I don't have factory stuff.

I used this kit but made my own rod. If I remember right I had this issue. I moved the heim further out on the selector so that the same selector movement took more movement by the column shifter. Hope this makes sense. Maybe you've already maxed out?
