Gear shift KNOB removal?

New to the site, new to the community. I have a beautiful 85 K5 blazer and I am doing some small upgrades in the interior. Can someone give me a short period of instruction on HOW to remove the rubber shifter knob. I purchased an aftermarket billet knob and did not want to force the old one off. Did not know if there was a trick to it. Thank you

They thread off. Sometimes

Lay on the floor and look to see if there’s a nut on the bottom. Shoot it with some penetrating oil. These are standard threads, so counter clockwise

Gear shift knob for the transmission. On the steering column.

I think the one for the auto trans on the column is pressed on. I don't think I remember seeing threads on ones with the missing rubber.

I'm pretty sure the column auto shift knobs are just rubber squeezed over kind of a knurl.
