Current setup:
700R4 and NP208

Thinking of:
SM465 and Ranger Gear Splitter

Do you think I can keep my 208, or should I try to get the 241 that usually goes with the 465?

http://www.advanceadapters.com/categories/complete-units/91/

At the above page, shows 2 different splitters... what do you think is the one I would want?

New to this subject, so bear with me...

Andrew

The 465/208 combo (81-88) is much more common than than a 465/241 (a relatively rare option with lower production numbers, 89-91).

I believe the Advance Adapters overdrive unit bolts in front of the transmission anyway so it shouldn't matter what t-case is on it.

I think the 208 thats behind the 700 is 27 spline... so Id probably need the 208 thats mated to the 465 from the donar, yes?

The newer SM465's from around 1981 and up have 32 splines on the output shaft--same as a TH400...I believe a T-case from a TH400 and a SM465 will interchange, but the ones for 700r4's and TH350's are 27 spline inputs,so yes, you'll need the T-case that went with the SM465,or have to swap the input on yours to the 32 spline version...you will probably need the adapter between the tranny and t-case also...I'd take the crossmember too, just in case....

You actually answered one of my future questions. Thanks for the input!
You will need the number 2 setup which has the 5.125" input retainer.
And yes either get a 465/205 or get a 465/208, unless you already have a 241 or can get it easy enough.
And the Ranger overdrive goes in between the engine and the transmission so it doesn't matter what tcase you have.

Will look like this-

pics or it didnt happen. is it driving?

It is but I just yanked the rear DL I made, it was pissed. The front one works perfect though. I have another rear to cut down that I like much better, waiting for the big 4x4 swapmeet here tomorrow incase I find something else. I also changed the rear output to a flange.

did you change adapters? how did you move the crossmember back? i'm assuming you also changed driveshafts?
Adapters? The cross member is just bolted on further back and yes driveshafts are changed. It's actually all sitting on my shop floor... Again. Was having issues with the clutch not disengaging properly :[

the tailhousing thing between the transmission and the transfer case. if you just moved the cross member back (drilled new holes?) i'm assuming you did not change it. Hope your clutch issue gets worked out:dunno:

Yes new holes drilled and thanks, just need the time to deal with it. My wife and I seem to be booked solid and time is scarce, ill get it though.
