gears for 37 inch tire

I've been meaning to do 4.88s for my 37s, but now you guys have me looking at 5.13 as well. It's only 5% deeper, which is 113rpm at 70 in OD. The only reason I think about taller gears is to tow in 3rd, but honestly anything heavy enough that my built 700 can't tow in 4th is probably too big for the short wheelbase and higher CG. I don't even have a trailer.

The reason you listed is exactly why I went with 5.13s. I tow a 21 foot wakeboard boat. I had 4.56's with 35 Tires. I needed to drop the truck to 2nd in order to do 55 up a hill. Eventually the gears broke. So the 10 bolt got junked and I swapped in a 14 bolt with 5.13s. Now I can do 60 up that same hill in 3rd. It made a huge difference and I am glad I did it. I debated on 4.88s but since this isn't a daily driver I wanted the extra towing power 5.13s would give me.
 
5.13 and 35's. This is the first time I've heard of it. Even Jeeps run 4.88 with 35s. 60 in 3rd is about 3000rpm, no? You're building my confidence to go deep...

Ya 3000 rpm is about right. I have no regrets with 5.13s. When I'm not towing the boat I use overdrive and it cruises around just fine. The speedometer isn't exactly accurate with this combo. I have changed the speedo gear and its still shows about 2-3mph faster then I am really going.

The big difference now is I can get up the hill without having to drop my truck to 2nd. I can drive it normally now.Even just getting going from a full stop to go is easy. I dont really "feel" the boat holding me back. I can accelerate and keep up with traffic.

I have been chasing towing capabilities for a while now, I have done everything, rebuilt motor, headers, chip, rebuilt transmission, ect and by far the gears were the single biggest improvement.
