When looking for a set of gears for my 12 and 10 bolts on craiglist and ebay what do i need to watch out for. I know if i have the right stuff i could set it up myself but i just do not want to buy the wrong parts. I know i should need a carrier going from 3.08 to 4.10 or 4.56 gears or a set of thick gears. What else do i need to look out for? I do know it would be nice to get a whole axle but do not know what i could happen up on first and cheaper.

When looking for gears for the 12b, be sure to get ones for the truck axle. The ones for the car 12b are differnt.

I was just about to say this. Nothing between a 12 bolt car and truck axle are interchageable. I found this out years ago.

With the 1000's of parts that interchange between GM vehicles, and over the wide range of years. You'd think that they could have gotten this one right. I want to know who the engineer is who thought it would be a good idea to not make the two compatible. Must have come from Ford.:haha: Lets give the car the bigger pinion too.:surepal:
