So, I've had good luck with Yukon gears in the past, but I've had a few buddies who swear that they are the junkiest on the market. I trust their opinions, but none could agree on what is the best brand, so I figured I would get a larger sampling of opinions to see what the general consensus is on them.

So, if you were to order a set of 5.13 gears for a Chevy D60 / 9.5" 14 bolt semi floater to be installed on a pair of ARB lockers, what would you go for?

I've done 25 sets or so, roughly 20 or so Yukon sets. I've never had an issue with any of them.

Honestly the only set of gears I've ever had an issue with were Richmond in a 7.5" 10 bolt. They are a supposedly a good brand name gear but there are others who have had issues with that specific ring and pinion set from Richmond.

The others were GM and Spicer (I've found both of those brands in Yukon boxes), all of them seem equally easy to setup other than that one set or Richmonds.

Richmond seems to have a problem with some of their gears. I have used Yukon, Richmond, US gear, Seirra gear, spicer and trail gear (for toyotas made by yukon)

Only issues I have ever had have been the Richmonds and only in suzuki and corporate axles.

I've used Richmomd and Motive before. The Richmonds have been in a D44 front and some 7.5 10bolts. The Motives were in my 14ff. I had some whine with one of the 10bolts, but I think it was my error on installation.

I have ran Yukons, Genuine, & Richmond.

Only complaint is on Genuine Toytota gears, Several pinion gear failures with them.

All the Dana Yukon gears I have installed were re-box Dana brand.

(Continuing an old thread on same subject)

I'm looking into new ring/pinions as well as new master bearing kits.....

I'm pretty comfortable with the master kits as most just use Timken bearings.

What about G2 Brand Ring and Pinions? Anyone have experience with their gears?
Also, what's the difference between "Performance" and "OEM"? The OEM tends to be more expensive......:dunno:
