A buddy is building a truggy and he is planing on running a 700r/241 for a bit til he decides what case to run. He is wondering which gear would fit him best for a bit 5.13's or 5.38's? Hes gonna be running a d44 and a 14 just cause that's what he has. He also is running 37's any thoughts and input would be very help full.

I think that 5.13s still have a full tooth of engagement between the ring and pinion at all times, while 5.38s don't. I'd go with 5.13s just to make sure that you've got that added strength.

5.13s with 37s and overdrive would be just about ideal, by the way!

5.13's for sure. i loved them with my 39.5's. wish i still had them, 4.10's are slow, but 5.86's may be in the future

I ran my last k5 for three years with 37s and 4.56s with a locker and only broke one axle shaft due to me. thanks for the input fellas well taken.

Buggy? Only off road?

I know there is not much difference but 5.38s here. If its a buggy gears are important, there is almost no difference in strength between the two.

Set em up dead on though. 44s can be put to some very serious use but they are unforgiving when you push them to their limits and everything is "good enough"
