Gen 1 K5 Camper FS In Grand Junction Co.

Are you the "guy that was extremely knowledgeable"? How can it be 73+. Pics make it look like 76-91.

Damn, I really like it. However I kind of skeptical of the validity of the ad, with so much majorly wrong info.

If the frame is solid, it could be a good fixer-upper. Where do you sleep in there? Wish somebody could haul it closer. Seems like all of them made are still in CO or nearby.

I think if a first gen K5 or a 73,4,5 K5 had a half cab conversion this camper would fit, other than that it'd have to be a 76-91 to fit properly...

The only "factory" camper I've seen as a "stock" option on a K5 was the Chalet shell...

Yeah, people don't get that "Four Wheel Drive Campers" was a brand name, not a statement of the product.

It would be cool to Have. This one looks to be in Much better shape than some I have seen. Looks like the side panels that fold out to sleep On are missing. Should be like a floor in there that the table and stuff sat on and converted to a bed. But the whole floor area on this one would be open so you could put in a mattress of your choice back there. And modify the floor plan however you want.

Not sure how i should take the "was" part. I am sure i put GEN 1 in my thread header. GEN 1 refers to 69-72 in the K5's unless i am living in Bizzaro world.

Validity of the add...again...GEN 1 is pretty self explanitory. And "took a peek at it last weekend" means i physically stood next to it looking it over so i fail to see the malfunction.

No factory camper was ever made for the GEN 1 K5's. 4 Wheel Pop Tops started out making them for the scouts believe it or not and then progressed to the Bronco's and K5's. The early versions of these campers did not use a cut down factory hard top to mount them to the afore mentioned vehicles. It was only later on they got the idea to cut the factory hard top for mounting. Interestingly when the K5's became non full verts and had a roof...they still didn't use the forward bolts holes to secure the forward wall of said camper to the body. I'll assume they relied on the weight of the camper and its over cab section to make the seal where as the chalets bolted in just like the factory hard top.
I am fairly certain if one was to make there own front wall to mirror the 76 up K5's that the camper in question could be used on the 76 ups if someone had the time to put into it.

I posted this as it was a steal of a deal. And i thought someone in the ck5 family would love to snag it. I'm guessing by the comments that this will be the last time i bother to do so.

I was quoting the text in the Craigslist ad. Whoever stopped to talk to the seller impressed him and I assumed it was you. I really did think it looked like a camper for a half-topper, so that's just my poor interpretation of pictures if it was for a full-topper. No ill intentions, sorry if something came off wrong.

I too assumed you shared your knowledge with the craigslist poster and thought that was cool.

I also would have taken advantage of the post if I lived closer and had somewhere to store it. Having a camper that was built for my first gen would be awesome.

In short, don't stop sharing as it's appreciated, both on ck5 and with people in the real world.
