I have a NP205 out of a '88 1-ton Chevy. It has a round bolt pattern, and (I assume) a long 32 spline input shaft. You mentioned that a round bolt pattern was not a problem with your gen2dblr. My question is if the input gear can be swapped for a short 32 spline shaft, like it is done with the 350 version NP205. I assume that I would not have to machine the case to do this, right? Wouldn't it be chaper to swap input gears rather than buy a different NP205 version? I appreciate and information you can give me.

We can work with the round pattern, but you will have to swap in the short input gear. It is a direct swap, no bore, no new bearing. At that point, you're ready to go.
