Hi everyone...

I've been looking for a winter truck for a bit and as I've owned a few Ford(gasp!) pick-ups I've been focused mostly on F150s and Broncos.

I've recently stumbled across an 87 Blazer on craigslist and it looks pretty good. I've read the buyers guide here and a lot of tech threads so I feel confident making a decision on if it's a decent truck and honestly, the K5 is growing on me.

My question is this: What sort of condition can I expect to find in the $2000-$3000 range. I know this is mostly anecdotal, but can I expect a decent driver with only a little rust and a good interior?

Thanks!

Prices on these things are all over the place. You can be looking at an ad for a nice clean one with an asking price of 8k and right next it will be one just as clean for $1500.If I was looking to spend 2-3k on one Id be looking for one with a solid body and floors etc.I wouldn't even care if it ran because the drive train is an easy fix.

yep, location means everything
around here, 3k get you a solid body, "complete" interior, ugly paint, and running (though rough)

Absolutely.

Prices vary, everyone has an opinion on what their junk is worth, post up a link of the truck in question, if you want more feedback on the subject.

The ad has little info. I emailed the seller and was told it was in good shape inside and out. 305 w/4 spd manual trans.

Asking $2900

Can`t really tell much from the pic. You need to check for rust in these areas, floors, rockers, where front seat belt mounts, tailpan. You should also make sure the rear window works, gate opens. Rust will kill these things pretty quick, mechanical stuff is generally easier to fix. For $3K, I`d want it pretty clean. If you were closer I`d sell you my Burb.

It seems that like any older vehicle, rust is the enemy. I'll check it very carefully.
