I have been looking for some rear 56" leaf springs for a truck I am trying to build(slowly). The salvage yards have turned up nothing but rusted or cracked junk . So , I was looking at purchasing springs from a company called General Spring. Has anyone heard anything about them(good or bad), or bought a pair of springs from them?Can anyone tell me another place where a new pair of stock height springs can be purchased at a reasonable price? The ones I am looking at cost $150.00 a piece.
 
Think I got my stock rear 52"s from Stengel Brothers http://www.stengelbros.com/Leaf-Springs.htm One arrived with a busted spring pin which was annoying, but they've worn well and evenly, despite poor packing and UPS's best efforts to shake them. They weren't crazy money, I don't think (was some years ago, so YMMV.)

There's also http://www.sdtrucksprings.com/leaf-springs , just found em in Google, never bought from 'em. Summit has the Dorman packs, but they're a bit spendier ..shrug..

Thanks , I did a search , and didn't come up with much. Figured I'd ask here ,and maybe someone could also tell about quality issues,ect.

Thanks for that. So, this vehicle that I am building is a k5 chassis with a truck cab mounted. Going with 52's in front with 56's in the rear for some flex . You think I should use a 2600 lb spring pack in the rear?I have the DIY4X flip n switch.
 
heavy spring = thicker leafs and more of them and resistant to flex .

so ya try and go low weight spec and tune it in from there by removing 1-2 as needed .

just put some on buddys k30 with 4" flip and he took it for a short drive and was blown away over 6" rough country CRAPPY rear leafs .

we also did full polly greaseable kit for front and rear leafs and rear shackles. this also helps a bit .

and we dropped 2" of lift on his truck so that's why just stock springs and 4" flip . did tuff country hd 4" front cause of big winch and bumper .
 
What are you doing for behind the cab? Flatbed? Nothing at all? 1st time I wheeled my k5 after swapping the pickup cab on, it had 4" tuff country ez ride springs in front, 4" shackle flip with new stock springs in back and 1/2 ton drivetrain on 35" tires. The rear didn't flex much at all because there was no weight back there. No joke, I back 1 rear tire onto a rock that was less than 2 feet tall and the other rear tire was a few inches off the ground
 
What are you doing for behind the cab? Flatbed? Nothing at all? 1st time I wheeled my k5 after swapping the pickup cab on, it had 4" tuff country ez ride springs in front, 4" shackle flip with new stock springs in back and 1/2 ton drivetrain on 35" tires. The rear didn't flex much at all because there was no weight back there. No joke, I back 1 rear tire onto a rock that was less than 2 feet tall and the other rear tire was a few inches off the ground
I plan on putting a shortened bed on there , I realize that it won't exactly line up right , but I will make it fit. If I don't like the way it looks I will make a trail bed for it. I will share some pictures of mine when I think it's worthy enough.
 
After 20 years or so of supporting my massive front bumper and winch, my factory leafs were sagging. I needed the "snowplow" rated front leafs, and the local Ford place was way too high.
Most of the aftermarket places wanted to sell me a set of lift springs, but I needed stock. Found this place almost by accident.

Their prices were so low, I did not want to buy them. I asked several times if it was for one spring or both. Did not see how they could be decent quality for that price.
Finally bought them. Figured that if they turned out to be junk, at least I was not out much.
Almost 10 years in, they are doing fine.
Only problem is, they have no catalog to speak of, and do not do a lot of online sales. You have to E-mail them, call them, or text. But you have a much better chance of getting what you want.

I have purchased from General Spring out of Lenexa, KS on 2 occasions. A pair of fronts then a pair of rears. I remember the rear were for my 68 Burb with a 2 " rise. They made them to my specs. They ride nice.
