Generic Tools

i am also on the craftsman band wagon, but check this out.walmart has stanley tools with a lifetime warranty.i had all my tools stolen about a year ago,and i went to wally-world and bought a 3/8 socket set,a 1/2 socket set,and a 20 piece wrench set.i have been very impressed with them.the wrenches dont spread on the open end like alot of cheepo's do,and the sockets are all still intact, even though i have tried to break several of them repeatedly.i did manage to break the universal joint trying to remove a torx seatbelt bolt from a rusted floorboard(with the added leverage of a 3 foot pipe /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif),but i cant blame the tool for that.

I'm somewhat with the majority about good tools, but trail tools are another story.

I have a set of Husky and Craftsman tools in my garage and love them. Never a problem and if there is I just take back to Sears or Home Depot for replacement.

Now trail tools are a diffrent story. I am a Harbor Freight and Tool guy on the trail. I have a very large assortment of trail tools that I carry including impact sockets and air tools, and I mean a large assortment. With the exception of a few speciality tools like my 1/2" and 9/16" Gearwrench tool, they are all cheap tools, and I use them from sockets to box wrenches to ball joint press. I probably have about 150 bucks in all the stuff I carry including air tools and all the stuff and to date have never broken one of the cheap tools on the trail. I would not use this in my garage, but on the trail they work great and don't have to have a melt down if you loose one or break one, and better yet if I did break one of the cheap ones, I have a Harbor Freight store about 1 mile from my house. I don't condone the use of cheap tools in the garage but on the trail it's the only way to go.

Just my .02
