Get a load of this engine stand....dressed 454

.....and sometimes you really pay for what you get. :haha:

My engine stand cost more than $80, but it has a nice handle on it....and you can crank it and the engine rotates around oh...so smoothly.

I spent the extra money for a really nice cherry picker too.... I hate struggling with crappy tools, especially ones that hold big things (jacks, engine stands, etc). My pet peeve is that even with the "nicer" tools, they still seem to all cheap-out on the casters....they never seem to swivel or roll correctly when there's weight on them. Bah!

I scored a nice cherry picker as well. It's, uhh, heavy-duty :D

uhh i think ur all right...the black piece is on upside down (the long arms go on the bottom) and the orange uprightis backwards and its tweaked because of it all!!

Guys, I have this assmbled correctly and the engine is mounted correctly. Here are pictures to prove it.

All I can say is do not buy a stand from Summit for a BB. Where can I get a good stand?

Notice the backward tilt of the mount post.

Notice the mount bracket. The engine is as low as it will go.

Now notice....it is still sagging majorly.

Alright.....I'm convinced. That engine stand you have is a POS! :D

Since you've gone to so much trouble to post pics and ask for help, here are a few I just took for you:

It's not going to be $80.... but I think we can all agree about what you GET for that price, at least from Summit. :deal:

A couple of nice features of this one are that it has the diagonal bracing on the upright post, the gear-driven rotation crank has a greaseable zerk fitting (nice touch) and can be rotated with 1-finger. And the two rear wheels are fixed, while the two fronts will swivel. This allows you to actually "aim" the engine stand to the place you want it to go....with 4 swivel casters, they tend to wander wherever the low spot in the floor happens to be!

Check it out, if you're willing to spend the $$$ this one is pretty sweet, and you'll love every time you get to use it.

I personally think you have too much crap on the front of the engine, don't think it was intended for all the accessories to be on there as a complete motor. Usually when an engine is on a stand, it's being rebuilt, or put together, but all the other stuff is usually added after the motor is installed.

Just a thought, i had a BB on a 3 legged stand once, just the block, heads and intake, was quite heavy, and hard to rotate, but still managable.

take all the accessories and the exhaust manifolds off and see how it looks then...

again, just a thought..
