I used to have a 87 short bed chevy with the tbi 350 sm465, np208 with a 4" lift, now im looking for a blazer any tips for a guy looking for a blazer in illinois? like particularly the year of the blazer.

It all depends what drivetrain you want and what you are looking to use the blazer for. Narrow down your question a bit or give more detail as to what you plan on using the blazer for and you will get more responses. let us know.

I want the 4 speed manual again, it is just sooo awsome. probly just gunna go with 33's right now with maybe a 4" lift. I found a 4 speed jimmy, 88 350 sm465 np241, with 10 bolt axles i assume, for about 3K it was listed at 4300 with a plow, but i want it without the plow.

Bring them down on the price, tell them the plow will destroy the trucks front end (axle, suspension, steering...) and since you will most likely change the springs and put a lift, or even might swap the axle out, it's money you would be saving, try and bring them down to $2k or less with these arguments, never know they might takle it in today's economy.

he also said the clutch was done last year. So 2K wouldnt be a bad price to do, i could go with that, he would part the plow with it and he'd be asking 3k he said. he said it has about 162K on it, but it says only 62k, dont know when they changed the spedo cluster to read six digets. i am dead set on a 4 speed jimmy\k5. He is sending me pictures of the truck tonight.

Almost anything from il is going to be a pile of rust unless you spend alot of money. The biggest thing for the k5's up here is watch the rust on the rockers just behind the front seats and the tail pan area. Depneding on the area to watch and see if it has or is capable of passing emissions or you may end up with a headache. There are some rust free trucks and k5 around here you just have to be patient but my guess is if it has a plow it's problally rusty.

yea i dont know if i want pretty, i just want a truck to beat on, but a body that wont fall apart. but the SM465 is rare to find in any of these trucks from my searching, so i was thinking of just offering the guy 1500 for iit, without the plow, and go from there. not to worried about emmissions because they dont do them on cars older then 95 these days. :)

I offered him 1300$ for it due to KBB's numbers were 768 in fair condition 1085 in good condition, and 1310 in exceleent condtioin, and since he put a clutch in it, that ant bad, but i will keep you posted on his responce and everything.

well interesting new developments, Im buying a used warn8274 winch with mounting plate and roller fairlead, and remote for 300$ tomarow. I called the guy on the jimmy he said he wasnt real excited about the offer, but said he'd call back, i found a bronco for 1400$ a 79 with 4" lift and 33's, so well i hate to stray, but we'll see.

the one and only thing i look for in a K5 is floors. i have to have floors. i had to many beaters to beat on and with messed up floors its nothing but problems, bodys tweek, split, fall off. everything else can be easily replaced

Good luck in your search, I hope you find something good. Like abig84 said, look real good at the floors. I swapped a pickup cab onto my blazer because the floors got really bad!! I would try and stay away from plow trucks just because you know they were used and abused. Around here, plow truck usually means parts truck. I'll keep my eyes open for ya.

thanks, i found an 87 k5 silverado. with 3.00 gears in the 10 bolt axles with 125k miles, im trying to get the guy to sell it because it would be a good blazer, never plowed, never mudded. runs really well. has car tires on it, theyre small. wish me luck that he calls me.
