well what would you do

new 39.5x13x17 for $1300

or

65% tread 42X14X17 for $850 (can use extra $$ toward a needed winch)
 
How about looking into some mils., their inexpensive, last awhile. They are heavy though. I think i would go with the 42's

I say the 42s

1. Because the 42s will let u cross stuff u never thought u would.
AND
2. When u buy the new winch u will be happy cas then ur stuck in stuff u really should be stuck in.
 
42'' because they will get you through easily one wheeling season maybe two and then in that time you can buy a new set and you'll already have a winch.

, I'm gonna say get new. 65% tread left is not bad, but your almost half way gone and you don't know what kind of road mannerism's they truly have. 35% tread loss is a gamble at $850.00. Go for the new sneakers. I don't think you'll regret it.

I voted for the 42's. When you look at the tread depth of the brand new 39 (which is considerably less than a new 42), you are not losing that much in total depth. The 39 inch IROKS aren't much bigger than your SX's and the 42's just have a cool factor.:wink1:

Do the 42's you know what the diffrence is in the rocks. We have been there and done that. Once you go big you can never go back.

Just think what it's going to be like at Box Canyon without the BIG ONES.

Dude, Springer is just about done with Dwanes Jeep. WOOOO HOOO, it looks like a trip to Cruces is in order this year!!!!!!

I voted for 39s basically cause all the IROKs I have seen go really fast after they get to about 50 % tread. I mean really fast
 
Dan, i went though the same thing this summer, 39.5's or 42's. i ended up going with 39.5's and i ended up selling them last week but i really wish i had gone with the 42's. the 39.5x13.50's dont measure what they are suposed to be, mine on 15x10 rim measured out to 38x15, which is not what i wanted. the 42's dont balloon, which is what i thought i wanted, but didnt get with the 39.5's. maybe its cuz they are 15's i duno.

heres a pic of the 39.5's on my rig, u can see they ballon, i didnt like that. go with the 42's if you dont, you will be like me, and wish you had gone with the 42's. since i sold my 39.5's, im going to run michelin XL's until i can afford some nice 17's and then get 42 iroks

Have you checked the price of new 42s? Before I found mine i was quoted right around $1400 for 4 to my door. You will spend that going to pheonix lol. I do understand your winch situation as Im in the same boat so Id say 42s either way.

I wish I had a trailer--i actually drive mine everywhere----Ive had 42's before and loved them--right now the price and the fact that i can fit 39's better right now are leaning me towards that. but i KNOW im gonna want the 42's two months after. im gonna get some prices right now.

dan I looked at the same tires,the used 42's..


i had to debat new 42's = 1550 with warranty, 150 less if I chose no warranty.

or the used ones from the btg guy, even with that much diferance in price I decided on new.
 
Well if all goes as planned im gonna get some new 39.5---the reason--I really don't have the money to go 42's (i want new) or patience to wait any longer and my truck is set up more for the 39's. I know ill be kicking myself later, but ill just deal with it. besides i got a smokin deal with the traded A/T's that were on the rims anyway.

just think about it this way---in about a year someone will be gettin a hell of a deal on some 39's:doah:
