Its been sitting for ~15 years inside a storage unit and my uncle won it in an auction. It is a 1984 17ft Ranger bass boat with a 140hp Johnson. Aside from the seats falling apart, it looks to be in good condition. No damage to gel coat, motor is clean, and its full of fishing gear. I want to start ordering the parts I will need to get it going. I know I will need to replace the batteries and water pump and I'll go ahead and rebuild the carb and get spark plugs while I am at it. What else should I do to it before firing it up?

I don't have experience with outboards but I'd say new fuel lines and filter, change the oil in the drive and motor, make sure your bilge pump works, check for anything structural being soft like stringers(don't even know if that boat has stringers), grease your trailer wheel bearings, and maybe run some carb/injector cleaner through it.

That's all I can think of right now. Talk to Ryoken.:wink1:
