Hi all, I am looking into getting a K5 Blazer shipped across country and was wondering where to look or what my options are with companies. I searched online and put the info in for a quote and got a call pretty fast (within 10mins) from a company called "All Day Auto Transport".

After research it is a broker company that I guess finds people to transport your vehicle. He quoted it at just under $800. Seemed REALLY low to me so I am a pretty skeptical if its a legitimate quote/company. BTW the transport would be from Oregon to Southern IL. I believe its like 1900 miles or something like that.

Still hoping to find better info then what I've seen elsewhere. Anybody have any experience with hauling vehicles? I know iceman has the friend that does it. Haven't gave him a call yet but have been meaning to get around to it.

Im having a truck shipped from Central Fl to North TX by Ply-Car. It is in an enclosed trailer, since it is a nice vehicle, should end up around $1700. There are cheaper ways, such as open trailer. I like dealing directly with the carrier company, these guys are expensive but very professional.

I will try and get a quote from them, if they offer open trailer I will take that option. I'm basically only getting this truck for the rust free body. It doesn't have a motor/trans/transfer case. I know being a non-running vehicle will raise the costs some though.

One thing I am concerned about is the carrier being able to get to the truck where its at. Haven't got to much detail specifically from the owner but it is at a family ranch "on a mountain". That might be a major issue for getting a semi up there...

You have two big hurdles to overcome there, carriers cant pick up in residential areas or areas that are not conducive to truck traffic, that means someone will need to take the truck to a point where the driver can pickup. Second problem is the non running status, and the distance involved, since the vehicle cannot be moved around as the truck travels across the country picking up and unloading along the way. :doah:

$800 to transport a non running K5 is pretty cheap for that distance. I'd be really surprised if you found a cheaper option.

Yeah, those are some tall hurdles. I'm in contact with a member on here that might be making a trip this way that could haul it for around $1200. Might be my best option if he can get up to where the truck is currently.

That's why I am leary of that. I've always gone by the sayings "You get what you pay for" and "If it sounds to good to be true, it most likely is"

Well . . .

When I bought mine I had it shipped from Nebraska to the Florida panhandle for $900 on an open transporter, other than beaucoup bugs it was fine. Don't remember the company, but the $800 sounds compatible with what I paid.

Was it running/driving?

Could be a few reasons it is a low offer. Open trailers will be less than enclosed. No big deal if you don't mind some road grime on your K5.

Maybe they needed one last vehicle to make the trip worthwhile and shot you an offer hoping you would readily accept.
Typical price is about $1 per mile

A carrier semi truck can get to where the blazer is, as my Dad drives his semi-truck and 53' step deck trailer up there to the family ranch all the time.

That's good to hear. Maybe I should try one of these companies out that have been trying to contact me. I will let you know what I find.
